Established in 1972 the first Blaine Food Bank operated out of the United Church of Christ. After several moves, the City of Blaine, Northwood Alliance Church and Stafholt donated land and Ken Kellar built and donated our current building.
Today, with our crew of 50+ who log approximately 2,000 hours collecting, sorting, storing, and distributing 175,000 pounds of food, we are able to serve more than 2,600 families each month.
Through “NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS” we strive to end hunger in our community by providing culturally appropriate nutritious food to individuals and families in need, and with respect and humility turn Hunger to Hope for anyone who faces food insecurity.
We rely on support from our community through our annual “Matching Funds Campaign," which we depend upon to provide milk and eggs to the individuals and families that we serve.
Caring, hardworking people who seem to understand that seeking help is typically not an easy choice. These volunteers go out of their way to make others feel comfortable and strive hard to meet individuals needs. My experience has primarily been with Sally who has been kind and gracious. Thank you, Blaine Food Bank. You are a community blessing.
